It’s been a while since I last posted up anything here, so I think it’s about due time for an update.

Back study for my anatomy class.   Done with Conte crayon on biggie sketch paper, in about 15 minutes.  I really like the feeling of conte, especially if you want to put down value fast.  And considering the fact that I’m an impatient person, this is a very good thing.

This was done last year…I believe?  For my honors freehand drawing class.

Scary, ain’t it?

My professor wanted us to observe the surroundings on campus and paint it over a course of two days, but because I was dealing with my research paper, I just sorta winged it.  Here’s what I came up with:

I did this in 40 minutes.  Or less.  I was tired from painting the other one that I already had, and I wanted to get out of the cold.

Btw, Oil painting is not as painful for me anymore – please applaud!  (Although, it still can make me sick -_-;;;)  Two good reasons for why this is so: 1.) I don’t have to worry about the big research paper that I had on my mind since the start of the semester.  Like a true champ, I waited until THREE DAYS before the paper was due, and typed it on THE DAY IT WAS DUE.  I finished that sucker with 5 minutes to spare before class.  Wow.  I hardly recommend to anyone-  I’m sure I shaved off a few years of my life.

And, reason 2.) We’re not doing still-lifes!  Thank God~!

It’s an outdoor painting adventure, or Plein Air as the french called it.  It’s still horribly messy, but now horribly messy outdoors!  So, it’s not too bad.

Here’s another part of my homework assignment:

I actually like this one, for some reason.  I guess it’s because I never really used a dark palette before, so it was different to experiment with.  Lots of blue!

That’s all for today .  I’ll try to get my sketches up soon – I’ve been doing thumbnails of landscapes/surroundings lately.  It’s been really fun – I used to hate doing environments before.  I guess I changed.

I just finished this now, actually – for my Beginning Painting homework.  The assignment was to buy multiples of one object that was simple in shape, but colorful.  Then, I had to arrange it to make an interesting composition, or tell a story.

I hope I achieved it.  I’ve been having a hard time in painting class.  It’s so damn messy.

I decided to take a few pics, to show the set up of my amazing studio.  No, your eyes aren’t deceived – that really is a washer and dryer in the background.

In all honesty, my set up is some spare room in the garage.  On a random note, My dad made my easel (which is awesome).  He just put in two screws so that I can hang the canvas on it now.

So, this is my second oil on canvas so far.

And here’s a Disclaimer: I’m not naked.  I’m wearing a sarong. 

I was playing around with creating different expressions, and this one appealed to me, even though it’s a bit blurry and grainy.

I often take pictures of my own face (well, the only one that I own) in order to use as a drawing reference.  That stemmed into my interest of photography – and I’ve been exploring that medium with varing results.  I”d like to get more serious about it in the future – when I have the money and time.  But, for now, I’ll have to do with my point and shoot.

Another thing: I’m hardly in family photos, since i’m usually the one taking them.  This also led to something else: self-picture hogging.  LOL – I hope I don’t come off as being conceited.  XD

So, I decided to revisit the drawing and redesign it. It was actually pretty fun, since I haven’t done a “concept drawing” in a long while; most of my drawings now consist of anime junk, real life observations, and other stuff.  So, it was fun rethinking the initial drawing.

So, what do you think?  I’m not that great with sci-fi concepts, so it was a bit of a brain challenge for me.  I guess that’s all I have to say.

This is an old drawing that was done back last year, and it took me a few days to complete, actually.  I didn’t want to dish it out all at once.

I used a photo from the internet for this particular piece.  It was fun to do.

I’m going to share a charcoal drawing today:

This was a charcoal study done back in Fall semester of ’07.  This was done at OCC, and our assignment was to accurately portray the life-sized mannequin we had in front of us.  It was a fun assignment – although, if I remember correctly, the right knee is inaccurate.  I apologize for the poor quality of the image, I took it with my camera.  It was done on a Biggie sketch pad piece of paper.
